One hundred thousand dollars is the total prize money for the month at the World Poker Tour’s new subscription based gaming website. Yes the site will be based in the United States, as well as the players having no fear that these games are legal to play online.

The Chief Executive Officer for the World Poker Tour, Steve Lipscomb, had an interview with the American newspaper USA
Today that the website would operate under the sweepstakes laws in thirty-eight out of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. He also went on to say that the online poker room would be available to play for free in all of the fifty states. The website will be Club WPT.com.
“Enormous amounts of money are being made in Internet gaming,” said Steve Lipscomb. “And Federal laws restricting wire transfers for online gaming have not prevented that from happening. We have not felt comfortable taking those bets.”

He is right as estimated revenues are reaching somewhere between two to four billion dollars a year. The World Poker Tour plans to partner up with Stats LLC to create the poker world’s first sports style statistics database by developing a mathematical system for gauging ability and aggression. Steve Lipscomb believes all players think they are better than the really are and it would be interesting to see who really is as good as they say they are.

The World Poker Tour and Stats LLC are planning to show how you can compare one win against another. Of course the first few stats to come trickling out will be rather basic but the more people play the more in depth and accurate the statistics program will tell you what your ranking is based on the strength of the field.

“If you won a World Series of Poker tournament years ago with a hundred and fifty people in it, how does that compare to a World Poker Tour event with five hundred people in it? This will tell you and with comfort, we can provide something that the Justice Department says is not illegal.” Happy words from Steve Lipscomb.
