World Series Academy Teaches Poker

Practice, practice, practice, they say, makes perfect. But it certainly doesn’t hurt to take a class or two to truly pump up your game.

In this spirit, the World Series of Poker Academy has recently made known that it will be offering a new class for poker enthusiasts to do just that. They have developed the first ever offered poker camp that will specialize only on advanced level No-Limit Texas Hold’em strategy and theory. The class will be available April 18-19 at Caesar’s Palace, in Las Vegas.

The two-day event will include higher level subject matter like heads-up strategy, advanced tournament stage strategy, advanced mathematics of poker, cash game strategy, and more. The producer of the WSOP Academy, Jeff Goldenberg of Post Oak Productions summarized the purpose of the camp: “If you’ve ever attended a poker camp before, or you’re a serious student of the game, now is the time to graduate to the next level.”

The camp promises a team of “world-class instructors.” The power crew includes names such as Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer, Pail Wasicka, Alex Outhred and Annie Duke- with numbers of others besides. Poker tells expert, and retired FBI agent Joe Navarro will be present to give a seminar on decoding tells.

The two days will be full of lectures from aforementioned “dream team,” in addition to the chance for players to interact within a gaming environment with the pros and compete against one another for two buy-in seats in the 2008 WSOP Main Event. The seats will be awarded to the winners of private tournaments taking place at the end of each camp day.

Goldenberg boasted about last year’s success of awarding a seat to an Academy graduate: “Last summer we had one of our participants, Sally Ann Boyer, go from Academy grad one day to world champion the next. That's the kind of confidence and skills students take away from our Academy, and we expect our seat winners to compete at the absolute highest levels at this year's WSOP.”

The cost of the Advanced Academy is about $2 grand, and (of course) only a certain number will be accepting into the program. For additional information, check out their website at WSOPA.com.
