| The Canadian First Nation enclave of Kahnawake and Antigua are not going to be found on the white list announced the Gaming Commission in Britain. The United Kingdom uses the white list to know who to go to for advertising online gambling services. One state that did make the white list was Tasmania, Australia. The Gambling Commission did confirm that Tasmania would be added to the white list of jurisdictions allowed to advertise their internet casinos in the United Kingdom. The Australian’s state application was gone back over after the Tasmanians reworked their legislature to amend its tax regime. Starting at the end of the month licensed operators will be able to join those based in European economic areas. Tasmania will be allowed to legally advertise internet wagering in Alderney and the Isle of Man on January 31, 2008. Both Alderney and the Isle of Man are part of the United Kingdom. On the other end of the spectrum, hundreds of internet gaming sites call the Kahnawake licensing jurisdiction home. With the Gambling Commission remaining tight lipped about the negative response they gave Kahnawake and Antigua, these companies are lingering in hopes of being allowed back in the United Kingdom’s good graces. On the other hand, the Mohawks of Kahnawake have been the target of player criticism on the topic of alleged poor communications for years along with some controversial judgments. Antigua is not viewed in a favorable light at the moment either. The inadequate level of response to high complaints from players has been an issue Antigua has been faced with for some time. The United States has been having a heated discussion with them through the World Trade Organization. | | | | |
